Hi Sue and Mark, This is Tom.
Yes this is the hotel. We should schedule a talk before we go. Since you are arriving the day before us, we can give you some hints on what to do and see. There is a restaurant within walking distance from the hotel which we should book in advance for one of the nights together.
After the stay in Merano , departing on Wednesday 21st, we are spending 2 nights in Garmisch at our favorite place, then traveling back staying at Torbole, at north end of Lake Garda for another 2 nights. Not sure what your plans are?
Nice bike ride today and next weekend am playing in a Pickleball tournament.
Regards
Tom

Hi Barb,
Hi Barb,
Read your email. We will inquire about the train option for the bikes.
Marc and I were looking at the map. Just to be sure… is this the hotel where you both are booked?

I assume it is, this is were we have the reservation but I thought I would double check.
Sue

Hi Sue,
TC and I talked about the star cycle trip there. You will see on your maps a valley winding up from Merano called the Vinchgau; it goes up to a pass leading down into Austria. A train follows this valley, up from Meran, and passes close to our hotel. The train accepts bikes though you can also cycle down to Meran (not far), and put them on a truck which takes them up to where we would get off the train. We’ve done both, but usually have the bikes with us on the train. HOWever, last year there were so many tourists, that the train filled up with lots of people and their bikes as it went north. Not the most comfortable experience, and the ride lasts close to an hour (lots of little train stations). You arrive before we do, so it might be a good idea to see if the hotel owners know if those two options (bikes on a truck, or bikes with us on the train) are still available. It may sound complicated, but is not so bad. The ride down back to the hotel/Meran is beautiful, but quite long, though 80 km. will easily be covered by your 1,000 watt batteries.
